The House Girl by Tara Conklin

Alternating between modern-day New York and the Antebellum South, The House Girl tells the story of two remarkable women.  Lina Sparrow is an ambitious young lawyer working on a historic class action lawsuit seeking reparation for the descendants of African American slaves.  Josephine is a house slave who tends to the mistress of a Virginia tobacco plantation and artist, Anne Bell.
